Nonni's Biscotti Reinvigorates the Cookie Category
Nonni's Launches a New Flavor as Sales Continue to Increase
Tulsa, OK. (June 6, 2007) - Nonni's Food Company, maker of
Nonni's Biscotti, announced the launch of a new biscotti recipe : Cinnamon Dolce. This
new recipe features a light, crunchy texture, sweet cinnamon flavor and is topped with a drizzle of icing.
Cinnamon Dolce offers consumers the pastry taste they crave, without the fat and calories.
"The continued success of the Nonni's Biscotti is a result of our ongoing dialogue with the consumer,
which helps us anticipate and meet their needs for flavor, portability and taste," said Matt Duffy,
Marketing Manager for Nonni's Food Company. "His dialogue inspired us to develop a cinnamon
flavored biscotti that is reminiscent of fresh baked sweet rolls . As always, each biscotti has between 90-110
calories, contains 0 trans-fat, is individually packaged for easy portability and made with all-natural ingredients."
The launch is a direct result of first quarter sales growth of 43.6 percent for the brand.
This increase in sales is in spite of the specialty cookie category's sales declining by four percent ($26 million).
Its sophisticated flavor and on-trend packaging have helped this brand continue to generating dramatic growth, leading
a product category that as a whole is flat.
Shelf-Level Benefits
Since the launch of its first national print campaign in January, Nonni's Biscotti now advertises in such popular magazines
as People, Ladies' Home Journal, Martha Stewart Living and Bon Appetit. Nonni's Biscotti has also introduced new display
cases for retailers; both end cap and on-shelf product holders. All of these initiatives, combined with the four Free Standing
Inserts published each year, are designed to grab consumers at home and at the shelf-level, thereby increasing repeat sales.
Nonni's Biscotti will also continue its annual on-pack promotion with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, even increasing the
donation amount this year. Throughout the month of October, consumers are asked to enter the UPC code from their
box of biscotti on to the Nonni's Web site, www.nonnis.com.
Nonni's Biscotti will donate 75 cents (up from the 50 cent donation of previous years) to Susan G. Komen for the Cure
for every UPC code that is entered. In addition, starting in October, Nonni's Biscotti will auction off dozens of
celebrity-autographed mugs on eBay's® "Giving Works" charity site and 100 percent
of all auction proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
A Different Flavor for Every Day Part
With all-natural ingredients, no trans fats, and only 90 to 110 calories, the Nonni's Biscotti line is right on par with
consumer healthy eating trends and even offers a flavor for any time of the day : Originali (blending
almonds with a hint of anise) flavors are a sweet tooth's alternative to donuts or sugary cereal, while the
Strawberry & Yogurt (filled with real strawberries and dipped in yogurt) and Limone (lemon dipped in white icing)
flavors satisfy that morning fruit cravings. As an afternoon snack, consumers can enjoy the Cioccolati (Originali dipped in
gourmet bittersweet chocolate) or Decadence (chocolate almond cookie dipped in bittersweet chocolate) flavors, Toffee Almond (filled
with bits of toffee and dipped in milk chocolate) or Turtle Pecan (filled in caramel, dipped in milk chocolate) are great alternatives
to candy bars.
